Flood Cleanup
As a locally owned and operated family business, we understand your need to quickly and efficiently provide for the safety of your family and home after the unfortunate effects of a flood. Bayside will service all your needs by providing a dumpster and laborers with experience of cleaning up and discarding contaminated items.
Cleaning up after a flood increases the risk of exposure to airborne fungi
created from moldy building materials, decaying matter, rotting waste material, and other fungus-contaminated debris.
OSHA recommends discarding all water damaged materials. Articles that are visibly contaminated with mold should be discarded. When in doubt, throw it out.
The CDC advises that you remove and discard contaminated household materials that cannot be disinfected, such as wallcoverings, cloth, rugs, and drywall.
What should be discarded after a flood?
- Mattresses should be thrown away.
- Wood veneered furniture is usually too costly to repair.
- Toys and stuffed animals contaminated by floodwaters pose a health problem.
- Remove wallboard, plaster and paneling to at least the flood level. If soaked by contaminated floodwater, it can be a permanent health hazard and should be removed.
- Soaked insulation should be replaced since it holds water for a long time and can lose its antifungal and fire retardant abilities.
- Discard carpeting that was covered by sewage-contaminated floodwater for health safety reasons. Carpet padding is nearly impossible to clean and should be replaced.
